Friends of the Maasai
12 nov 2025
During the fieldtrip of two board members of Friends of the Maasai (Stefan Schuwer and Willem Lageweg) to two Maasai communities in Kajiado (Kenya) many views and experiences were exchanged this week.
There was an update of the several projects we are working on together ranging from access to clean water, 3 new permaculture centers, community gardens, honey production, mentoring programs for the youth and many more. New ideas came up as well.
Both boards were asked what their priorities are for the coming 2 to 3 years. Water and knowledge were mentioned as the most important ones to become more self sufficient. Gaining new knowledge and skills both on an individual level such as working with computers and on board level such as project and finance management were mentioned by almost everyone.
The eagerness to learn motivates the board of the Friends of the Maasai to continue and even strengthen our cooperation with these brave and powerful communities who heavily suffer from the effects of climate change.
